Transfer deadline week.

August 28, 2012

Morning all, 55 TODAY!!! I can still remember my worse ever day of supporting Arsenal, 28 August 2011. Travelling back from Turkey and listening to AFC getting ripped a new one by United 8-2. My 54th will never be forgotten. However, at least we can’t lose today.

The deadline day window approaches at the end of the week (Friday). One wonders why the deadline day is the end of August, surely it should be before the season starts. I have noticed that many clubs, if not all do not bother with team photo’s now till September when all transfer business is done and dusted. I think the deadline should be July 31st. It must be best for all clubs to have a settled side before a ball is kicked in anger, no matter what Sally says.

The smarts is at least two new players coming in and at least four hopefully on the way out. The four to go would free up some cash on salaries and some transfer fees to help to pay for the new players if they should come. It could also be that some have to leave to free up first team squad spaces that is looking pretty full.

I have just tuned into Sky Sports News and the Transfer Window countdown clock is there, currently 3 days, 11 hours and 54 mins. This will build into the crescendo when Jim White

takes to the hot seat with his mobile phone that all his contacts calling him throughout the show (we know it’s the team lady he is talking to) when he hypes every transfer made, along with Brian Swanson.

Apparently Sky Sports are saying Man Utd may be open to getting rid of Rooney if he does not shape up. How is he supposed to do this when United do not have any games between now and Friday and he is out injured for one/two months with a gash on his thigh.  Also that Milan want Nicky B… Make that one happen Pleeeease!!!! Spurs are bidding for every single player that Arsenal are apparently interested in. They have £80m to spend.

Right now I could try to get a claim for refunds on being mis-sold PPI as the banks have to pay back £8b to people like me.  I could also borrow cash that could be in my account within 10 mins with… Is this really what daytime TV offers up? Time to turn TV off.

This is Arsene’s poker week and he plays the game well. Arsene does not give anything away, keeping his cards close to his chest. I’m sure he feels that any interest shown by AFC could push up the transfer fee’s. He also likes other clubs to feel he wants to keep his players to keep the price high. Plenty of play your cards right, Higher!!! for selling… Lower for buying from AFC this week.

Arsene is always saying that he will only strengthen his squad with players of quality who will be better than what we have. Though I feel Giroud, Podolski, Gervinho will do the business for us this season, hopefully Theo, if he does not leave a punt for Clint Dempsey a proven goalscorer in the Premiership with Fulham, I feel would be a great addition and give us a forward line that could be chopped and changed depending on English premiership opposition.  Dempsey surely would be an improvement to the squad. The main forwards should be good enough for Champions League matches.

I’m not to bothered about the goalkeeper spot as not many keepers get injured for long periods, save AFC of course. However, S13 and Mannone may just be enough for now, more so if the defence is being better organised by Stevie Bould.  Fabianski may be moved on.

Defensive midfielder would be good. Yes Arteta has played well there, but right now we need him with Cazorla opening up defences and scoring 10/15 a season between them. M’Vila sounds like trouble, but maybe he could change at AFC. No sure who else could come in? comments welcome… The we also have Jack coming back on the horizon.

Defence. Jenkinson has done well so far at right back, and Coquelin can also fill in. Of course Sagna will hopefully also be back soon as No.1 in that spot. Santos and Gibbs, who looks to be concentrating more on his defending are good for left back and TV5 can fill in. BFG, K6 and TV5 are the mainstay centrebacks and if needed Djourou could come in and play in some of the lesser games to give others a rest and maybe stay of injury.

Maybe the long running saga of the worlds greatest player in his own head will be finalised and Nicky B sold off for a decent fee.

Chamakh could also leave. Started his career at AFC well, when RVP was injured. But once RVP came back and hit top form, Chamakh was left to his Hookah and filling his face with Lamb Tagine and making it with hookers (allegedly). Whenever he plays he looks like the ball is filled with Semtex and about to go off when he touches it.

Could it be time for Arshavin to move on finally. The smarts is on a Russia return.

Squillaci I have no idea. Apparently he was a fair player, one you would at least think would do a job for a lower prem side. This is the one player I want to see go first. The young Park, what went on here, why did we buy him in the final moments last season. It’s like Arsene was trying to up the bid up on eBay and no one else came in to outbid and we got stuck with him. I reckon there should be a eBay version of football transfers. There fans can also join in and add money to the club’s bid. That’ll be funny watching all the bids go though on a seven-day auction.

The Champions League draw is this Thursday (pm) and the Whatever it’s called this year cup is drawn Saturday, when the big clubs and Spurs enter.
