Morning Gooners…

Arsene Wenger, who a while back was looking to appeal UEFA’s decision to fine him £33k and a three match Champions League ban has now accepted the decision. So that’s the start of another campaign in the Champions League (should we get there) with him being escorted by two burly guards to upper echelons of the terraces.

Mr. Wenger has also brought up the “Sin Bin” debate again. Would it be good? Well why not? It could be exciting. Players sin binned rather than being booked for silly fouls or dissent, 10 mins off the pitch. Down to 10 men, yet the player can come back on. Players coming on and going off, could be fun and excitement for the crowd. This is not to say that players who commit poor fouls cannot still shown a yellow card, just makes many of the suspensions for totting up yellow cards less likely and that has to be better for the game. Mind you it could be used for Man Utd’s fringe players, Webb, Dowd, Dean to stop booking United players altogether.

Jack Wilshere. has been out injured for the season, in part down to playing for England when he should not have and playing in the Emirates Cup. Stuart Pearce is just being a prick by even mentioning Jack’s name for Olympic squad. Jack himself has been sensible and said that he will rest this summer and will not be considered for the Olympic football squad. Is it any wonder England never get anywhere with the likes of Stuart Pearce who are for me footballing dinosaurs and the Euro’s will just cement that fact. May 13th season ends.. May 14th media hyperbole starts on England’s chances in Euro’s with who will be in the squad… 8th June tournament starts and England scrape through group. Then play either Germany or Portugal in knock our stages, lose to controversial goal or penalties, come home and media start what is wrong with English football campaign. Same old same old.

Funny on UEFA’s website here on the right pane, 5th one down, something Chelsea must have already applied for.

I see that Nicolas Bendtner has not made up his mind about joining Sunderland (or do Sunderland want him?) with the worry that he along with Mr. Denilson may soon be returning to Arsenal. Let’s hope if they do, it’s only a stop-gap to being moved onto other clubs.

Nice to hear in some media outlets that Barca are not considering a bid a for RVP, how kind of them to let us know.

Lots of rumours of transfers, God bless social networking…

Lots of rumours and pictures of the new Arsenal kits. God bless Photoshop, which can keep 15 year olds entertained for hours.

S13 is still making noises about what Arsenal can achieve and that they can fight for trophies. I would have thought a bit of silence from the players would be in Order and that both S13 and the team do their talking on the pitch. Win our remaining matches, qualify for the group stages of the next seasons Champions League, with no qualifier and then speak. I wish the club would also shut them up, but then I suppose they need content for

Other matters… Champions League Semi-Finals.  Tuesday night saw Barca take on Chelsea 0-1 down on agg in the Nou Camp. Chelsea came with luck on the side over the past 7/8 games with the woodwork their 12th man and decisions going well in their favour.

Barca played the way Barca do. Chelsea parked the bus and gave Drogba a pass to roam forward. Barca levelled the tie 1-1 with a goal from Custard Cream, Chelsea lost Cahill to hammy, Terry acted like a thug and got sent off. Barca then went ahead in the tie 2-1 through Inesta… Right on half time and a superb through ball from Lampard, found Ramires and he chipped and superb goal in to make it 2-2 on agg and put Chelsea in the parked bus seat so to speak.

One would have thought that with 10 men it would be just matter of time before Barca went ahead again. almost straight away in the second half, Cesc went down in the area and Barca were awarded a penalty. Up stepped Messi and yes, Chelsea’s 12th man was on hand again to save the day. Woodwork (no.42 in Chelsea’s squad) must be worth at least £50m and Barca and Real will lead the summer bidding.  Then right at the end of the game with Barca having already made 4732 passes across the face of the box and when they did get through, there was the impressive Cech to stop everything, fantasy comes alive, with Barca players throwing everyone forward, the ball breaks to Torres, who runs through, rounds the keeper (at this points I am expecting him to fall arse over tit) looks up and slides the ball neatly into the net to send Chelsea into the final. Congrats to them, but I’m not a fan of that sort of football.

Weds night and the other semi-final saw Real take on Bayern Munchen. Real start like house on fire. Penalty!!!Ronaldo takes… Ronaldo scores… 1-0 and the tie is 2-2 with Real ahead on away goals… Then on 14 Ronaldo makes it 2-0 with a neat strike. On 27 Bayern get a penalty of their own and Robben makes it 2-1 on the night, 3-3 on agg and its anyones game. ITV are doing their best to squeeze in as many references to the word “Chelsea” they can and going off air for a while only to come back in SD rather than HD. Though HD was restored for extra-time. Please can someone outbid this poor excuse for a TV channel and stop them showing top football on TV… How the hell did Adrian Chiles get a spot as a front man of ITV football.. The man is clueless and not at all funny.

The second half and extra time produced no more goals save a few close shaves, so the match went to penalties. Bayern coming out victors 3-1 after some awful penalties from Ronaldo, Kaka (good saves from Nueur though) and Ramos.

So it’s Bayern Munchen v Chelsea on 19 May in the Allianz Arena, the home of Bayern Munchen… Come on Bayern.

Now for Arsenal and it’s onto Saturday and a hard match away to Stoke RFC who play pretty much the Chelsea style of football.  Our defence has improved a lot recently and hopefully should be able to cope now with Stoke’s long ball, long throw-in game. Ramsey gets to come face to face with Shawcross and the cavemen fans of stoke who booed him their last season for having the temerity to have his leg broken by cry baby Shawcross who is not that type of player.

The race for third/fourth for the Champions spots is well exciting and better than 3-4 dead rubber matches at the end of the season and if we don’t make it with Stoke, Norwich and WBA our opponents we need our arses kicked and do not deserve to be in the Champions league.
