A few thoughts on the Wolves 0-3 Arsenal league match
Morning Gooners… Eventful Journey to work this morning, just the one Coach crash with yours truly aboard. All safe though. Don’t hold out much hope for Lorry or Coach though.
Another good win for the lads last night. What before the match seemed like it should be an easy three points turned out to be right. It was easy.
Arsene made changes, some forced Like Djourou for Koscielny, Santos for Gibbs and one not, bringing in Rambo for TR7, who maybe was a little tired after all the running he did against Man City where he was superb.
The teams entered the arena to the Wolves fans baying and screaming for blood and rousing cheers to get behind their team. They old lets see if we can put pressure on the ref ploy. That worked well 🙂
Right from the off Arsenal were to boss this match. Wolves are and looked like a team that know their fate. They can fill that new stand of theirs in the Championship next season. Anyone who has Karl Henry in their squad can play in Division three as far as I am concerned
Arsenal win an early Corner which Wolves deal with. Arsenal come again, this times it’s the old one-two between Walcott-RVP. Theo is set through on goal and into the penalty area. Ex-Spud Bassong all awkward and lumbering collides more than fouls Theo… PLENALTY ref!!!! Swarbrick points to the spot, rightly so and also gets out his shiny red card and that’s yer lot Mr.Bassong (ex-Spud doing us a favour)… RVP turn now to score against Wolves who will become the 17th side he bags a goal against this season, Equalling the record set by IWWW… IWWW…IWWW many years ago.
Gooooooooooooooal!!! Up steps the master and what a beautiful chip. Henessey dives, RVP holds up for a nano-second and just dinks one straight down the middle and the despairing Hennessey can only look back and admire as it’s hits the back of net and it’s 0-1 to the Arsenal…
Gooooooooooooooal!!! Arsenal’s early dominance is again rewarded as they come forward once more and it’s Theo-RVP combo again. The one-two ploy and this time Theoooooo!!! takes the pass and slides it into the net to make it 0-2… Two in two minutes… Happy days…
Kevin Doyle gets a yellow from Mr. Swarbrick, think he is a bit frustrated. Needs a meeting with Cowley.
The rest of the first half is non-event as Arsenal take their foot off the gas and use the rest of the half as a training session, in the hope they get tomorrow off. Twitter is not happy as we should be putting Wolves to the sword. Sometimes it’s good to chill and pass about..
Wolves start the second half ten men, nothing to lose and decide to have a go… Wolves get an early corner and Zubar misses a chance set up by Doyle, who seems to be missing his strike partner Bodie.
Arsenal’s turn and the ever impressive RVP is in the area and sets up Rambo, whose shot is blocked, that was going in… Sounds like Rambo has been impressive tonight. RVP’s turn to miss now after being set up by Arteta one of Arsenal’s panic buys, (yeah Right).. Zubar is now booked. Rambo sets up RVP and his shot is saved by Hennesey… Will we score a third? Kightly is also booked. Dirty Wolves..
Spirited Wolves come again and S13 has to make a wonder save from CI5 operative Doyle.. Wolves trying to make a game of it, Arsenal happy to just play the ball around and be patient.
Gooooooooooooooal!!! Patience rewarded as RVP slides the ball to Songhino, who holds it up in the area, looks around, spots Yossi on the Lady Gaga. Yossi controls the pass and hits a sweet (said in a Ray Winstone way) low shot into the onion bag for 0-3 to Arsenal. Yossi now has the taste for it, as he takes a pass from RVP and has another dig which is saved by Malt Whisky.
Theo is replaced by Oxo, which seems to go down well at the ground and on Twitter. Ramsey crosses and RVP’s header is saved. Ramsey and RVP combine again and this time Rambo’s shot is saved.
Not much else in the match for Arsenal, save another very good save from S13 from Milijas. We really do have a keeper at Arsenal and banish the demons the Almunia..
Final whistle goes. 0-3. Clean sheet and a FIVE point gap over the mob up the Seven Sisters Road and also the Barcodes.. The fact that we play twice more before the Spuds play another league match, means with a bit of luck and fair wind, we could be 11 points clear of them by the time they play QPR…
Very good professional performance from the team tonight. Song had another masterful match. Arteta, Rambo as well. Djourou even played well. This is turning into a bloody good end of season and right now I don’t want it to end.
What a turn up for the books that would be for all the TV and Newspapers experts out there that was telling us in Sept and end of January a different story.
Now three points at home to Wigan please Mr.Wenger and the boys.
Man Utd lose to Wigan, the team that normally just bends over and takes it up the rear against them… City win 4-0 at home to WBA and QPR continue their recent home form with an impressive win against Swansea. Brendon Rogers not looking so hot right now.
I see the FA and UEFA were up to their old tricks again yesterday. The FA upholding the Red Card given to Derry of QPR and yet not looking to give Tubbytelli and further punishment as apparently the ref saw the incident and did not even deem it worthy of a free kick, The thing he they did not even sack the ref.
Ivanovic is to contest an FA violent conduct charge after making a nice kidney punch on Wigan striker Shaun Maloney . What!!! Why!! Bang to rights mate, take it like a man. Three match ban, maybe four for being stupid enough to contest the charge.
UEFA charge City £25k for coming out one minute late for second half of Champions League match and yet fine Porto £16k for racial abuse.
Is anyone going to sort these muppets out… They could not run a piss up in a brewery let along football associations.
Anyway off to do some work.
Excellent stuff as normal Steve. If we can beat Wigan and go 8 pts ahead of the pack, it surely will damage the chasing pack psycholgically.
Thanks Alan. We’ll smash Wigan. They had their 15 mins last night. I also think that 8 points will damage them. Knowing only 15 points to play for and they have to get 9 as we have better GD may be to much for them. Happy days.
Well seems we did not smash Wigan. What do I know? 🙂
