Arsenal News 24 March 2012

March 24, 2012

Morning Gooners…. What a fantastic morning it out there today and it’s going to be a nice one f=to be in attendance at the Emirates today…

It’s double match today. First up is a 12noon kick off for my Sons team (their last game this season) and then it’s a quick change so we can both get over the Emirates to see Arsenal take on Villa.

Team news looks good apart from the few long-term injuries that should give us a good bench today. We’ve seen from the performance at Everton that the team can “Play Ugly” when needed and fight for each other. There can be no doubt Arsenal are a very good side when we have the players to choose from and not shorn by injuries.

It’s simply not good enough for people to say buy, buy, buy players… You can only have a squad of 25 players and even if you had the four best full backs in the world it’s no good of they are all out injured at the same time.

Our full backs are a major part of how we play and ten odd games with centre backs filling in, did not help our play at all.

Villa are without Darren Bent their top scorer and Richard Dunne, who seems to play well for Arsenal when we play against whatever he is he playing for when we meet.

Today could throw up a nice little lifeline for the team, with Chelsea playing Spurs before our match kicks off. Whatever the result at the Bridge, should we beat Villa we would pull away from one of those sides. For me even though we could pull nine points clear of Chelsea and almost guarantee a top four spot, I would like to see Spurs lose and finish the day 4 points clear of them. I’m not one to gloat too much, but Spurs fans have been particularly vocal in that department at Arsenal this season and I think they deserve some serious gloating back and St Tottering’s day will come closer.

Below is a few articles I have picked out from the media over the last day or so that I found of interest

In yesterday Press conference by Arsene Wenger he is again asked about transfers. AW says Podolski is NOT a done deal. AW also mentions quality and not quantity is what he is looking for in the summer. AW will NEVER give anything away and at times it can be quite amusing seeing the media react to what he says and then in turn see the fans react to what the media says.

The Sun has a Wenger Wilshere Warning This makes sense, though I do wonder why Arsenal would bother bring Jack back this season at all. We’re doing alright without him so why chance it?

The Independent does this story on Thierry Henry speaking to Dermot O’Leary. A really good read and a good insight into TH14/12 and AW through his words.

The Telegraph has this article about Real Madrid having their own holiday island How good is this, if only Arsenal had their own holiday island that all us Gooners could go to.

The Sun article with Brad Freidal who does a great job of making himself look silly. Well listen to the big words from BRAD who insists Tottenham are not in free fall and warned gloating Arsenal  fans: You’ve not finished above us yet” Arsenal fans gloating, get real BRAD, it’s you mob who have been doing the gloating and now getting it back in spades.

Nothing to do with football Candice Swanepoel in the Daily Mail

Finally ….

I bought my son the complete set of electronic Arsenal figures today.
He was beaming as he was lining them up in the correct formation,
“Szczesny, Gibbs, Vermaelen, Koscielny … Erm… Dad?” he said “Where’s Sagna?”
“Sorry son” I said “Bacary’s not included.”
My next Blog will be a match report on the game today coming your way either later today or tomorrow morning… Follow me on Twitter @harlowgooner
