Arsenal News 29 February 2012

February 29, 2012

Morning all. Wednesday already, doesn’t time fly, when you’re having fun. Still Monday in Tottenham. The short international interlull as usual mean lack of news on the Arsenal front.

I logged onto this Arsenal forum this morning to see an Arsenal fan who has an opinion that Parker is a better player than Song. The writer ( who I have a lot of time for to be honest) says

“To be honest, I think Parker is a better player than Song. Song certainly has more talent but he also has a casual nature to his game which lets him down. When he is really focused and works hard he is superb, but too frequently he just coasts through games and doesn’t have the urgency that you would expect of a top defensive midfielder. He also has a clumsy way of tackling which causes him to pick up silly bookings. Parker, by contrast, is more limited but has an excellent work ethic. Along with Adebayor he is one of the main reasons for Tottenham’s improvement this season.“

My opinion for what it’s worth, I just can’t agree with that. Ok! Parker has had a good season with Spurs, but it’s almost like a his swan song for me. Sooner or later he was going to have a good season. Why as it taken him all these years.

Spurs success as the writer says, has nothing to do with Freidal, Bale, Modric, Van der Vaart et-al either As for silly bookings :

Parker played 28 Red 1 Yellows 8

Song played 33 Red 0 Yellows 9 Not a lot in it.

I do wonder what it is about Parker. Before Spurs the only club of note he played for was Chelsea. He is now 31 and seems it took him an age to get noticed. Played 394 games in 15 years (26 games a season) Suddenly touted for England captain, is this really how low the standards of English National football has dropped. BBC today run with Scott Parker named England Player of the Year by fans

What is up with people. mediocrity is rife today in football. I really don’t get this and I’ve said this before he signed for Spurs.

Other news filling social network sites Poldolski signed pre-contract to sign for Arsenal in summer.

Tip : if player is NOT in a picture wearing an Arsenal Top with a Scarf round his neck of lofted both hands above his head and on Ignore it. Saves a lot of aggro later when he does not sign.

The papers – Robin van (he scores when he wants) is apparently a doubt for Holland v England match with groin strain. Dutch manager van Mardick still looking to use him.

Good blog here from RedWhiteScraf with the full Gazidis interview. Maybe not the same as what has been put across by the media.

Aston Villa report £54m loss  Arsenal doing it the right way. Makes you wonder why Arsenal are questioned about how they spend their money.

UEFA listen to clubs shocker… The Sun run with

MANCHESTER UNITED and Arsenal have welcomed a deal between European clubs and UEFA to reduce the number of international friendlies. Premier League teams will also get more money for releasing their players for Euro 2012. United chief executive David Gill said: “It’s a great agreement. His Arsenal counterpart Ivan Gazidis said: “UEFA’s willingness to talk to clubs is leading to agreements.

That’s all folks.

Stay safe out there.
