Arsenal News 18 February 2012

February 18, 2012

Morning Everybody. I am writing this from a view out of my bedroom window in a cloudy Harlow. Right no inspration there then. Her indoors has just come back from shopping and I fully expect the tantalising smell of bacon to be reaching my nostrils in the next few mins.

                                                        IT’S MATCH DAY

First item on agenda today. I went to the Imperial War Museum on Friday. Had to take a picture.

The Cannon

While there I went into a “Blitz experience” exhibit they have there. You sit there in darkened room and you get to feel what it must have been like in war-time bombing of the East End where is was taking place. You heard commentary from cockney geezers and ladies…  You heard ” ‘ere know what the food market darn the Commercial Road had all its bloody front blown off by a bomb” Next day they had a sign up saying

                                     “Even more open than normal”

That’s the spirit I wish we could see more of today from some football fans…  Roll out the barrel!!!

Saturday morning and early team news is in………………………………..

Per Mertesacker has had surgery on his ankle injury he picked during the win at Sunderland. How can clubs be allowed to get away with putting out such rubbish pitches. This means Arsenal having to play three games in a week on sub-standard pitches, it’s not right. It does not look good and Arsene Wenger said:-

“Unfortunately Per has had surgery and we have lost him for a while.

He had reconstruction of his ligaments, so he will be a long term injury”

Laurent Koscielny’s knee problem is better news. Wenger said :-

“He is only expected to be out for one week and should return for home match against Tottenham”

So that’s Koscielny out for 6 weeks 🙂

Gervinho is back from the African Nations Cup and is in the squad for the Stadium of Light.

What the papers say.

The Sun has Arsenal firmly on their radar this morning.

1. Gunners backlash at training shocker

I have heard this spoken about many times but is this even romotely true. Think about it a premiership team that does “not practise  DEFENDING in training” I find that very hard to believe. Ok! the team is not performing well at defending this season, in fact the last few seasons, but there are other factors.

2. Zlat: Quit Arsenal, Robin

Thing is here, no more than I would have expected to see.

3. Terry Venables – No more excuses, Wenger has to spend

Terry telling us in an article what most of us already know.

4. Wenger: Milan defeat will haunt me forever

Finally I had to stick this link from the Guardian. It’s a poll article by Thom Gibbs Arsenal clear out: Who should Arsene Wenger sell this summer?

Thomas Vermaelen?

The Mail has a story Arsenal fans clash with police before Champions League tie

Looks like they have not had enough to drink yet

Right the rest of the day I will be mainly chillin’.

Looking forward to the match tonight and being a football fan I am allowed to have HOPE, even when everything going on at Arsenal tells me things are not looking good. So I’m hoping Arsenal can overcome their problems and grab a nice sunny May-day out at Wembley (can you have a nice day in Wembley an awful place to have a national stadium, it should be in the midlands) and also grab a place in the top four. To get this though the squad need to start to bloody fight for 90 mins each match and show the spirit of what I said above as well as the fans.

Might watch Chelsea v Birmingham game or tune into Sky Soccer Saturday, where the lads are always game for a laugh… why?  Because that’s how I roll…………… I’m sexy and I know it……………..

I will be back later with a full and frank match report

Stay safe out there..
